In a press release on March 25, 2020, Ford stated it was issuing a safety recall for select 2014-15 Ford Fiesta, 2014-16 Ford Fusion and 2014-16 Lincoln MKZ vehicles. According to the statement, the latch pawl spring-tab design in the affected vehicles can crack and fail in areas with high ambient temperatures. A fractured pawl spring tab does not let the door close and if it does after repeated attempts, the door may unlatch while driving and cause injuries. Any injury has not been reported related to the defect. This recall affects  248,912 vehicles in the United States and federal territories, 19,431 in Mexico and four in Canada.

The vehicles affected by the safety recall include:

A damaged fuel pump circuit can cause the engine to stall unexpectedly while driving, giving rise to a risk of a crash. No accident or injury has been reported in this regard. This recall affects 2,871 vehicles in the United States and 760 in Canada. Ford stated that dealers were going to inspect the harness and do appropriate repairs in case of damage or apply abrasion tape if there is no damage.
